Ford has issued a recall that applies to about 7,500 units of the Bronco built during the 2023 and 2024 model years. The off-roaders included in the campaign were built with hardtop quarter windows that may not have been properly installed, so they risk falling off while driving.
Toyota says it's recalling roughly 381,000 Tacomas in the U.S. from the 2022 and 2023 model years. It seems that during production, welding debris might have accumulated on the ends of the rear axle assembly. If that happened, the debris «could cause certain retaining nuts to loosen over time and eventually fall off, potentially causing a part to separate from the axle.» Obviously, the words «separate from the axle» are most dire, especially when addressed at the rear axle of a pickup truck. The recall population represents roughly 86% of Tacoma sales over those two model years.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Toyota will recall 280,663 pickup trucks and SUVs and issue a software update to address concerns over unexpected movement caused when vehicles are in neutral and brakes are not applied. Most of the vehicles covered under this recall were sold new in the United States, though a comparatively small number were sold in Puerto Rico.
Volkswagen and Audi are recalling more than 261,000 Golf-based cars from the 2015 through 2020 model years over a fire risk stemming from a potentially defective seal in the fuel pump, which is located inside the tank. If this seal fails, fuel can flow into the evaporative emissions system, contaminate the charcoal canister and eventually leak out through its filter element. Not only will this result in issues with the emissions system, but it can allow fuel vapors to enter places they're not wanted.
